Dr. Ari Tarigan is a tenured Associate Professor at Department of Safety, Economics, and Planning at University of Stavanger, Norway and also a senior research fellow in the Resilience Development Initiative. His research and teaching areas include road safety, traffic engineering, travel behaviour, transportation planning, water and wastewater system, urban infrastructure planning.

Dr. Tarigan has had numerous opportunities as an academic to collaborate with professionals from various professions and to work on urban infrastructure projects with persons from governmental and non-governmental organizations. Dr. Tarigan spent six years in Norway working for a French-owned energy company, where he was involved in several energy infrastructure development and maintenance projects. He also worked as a project engineer at IRIS for two years.
