Mendy Laoda is a civil engineer with a passion for sustainability and resilience. She holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Seismic Design from University College London and a bachelor’s degree from Institut Teknologi Bandung. At the World Bank Jakarta Office, Mendy works as a Consultant-Engineer, focusing on seismic and green retrofitting of residential buildings.
Beyond her professional role, Mendy is dedicated to sustainability through her venture, Mortier, which transforms waste materials into valuable products. She is also a certified Greenship Professional and EDGE Expert, highlighting her dedication to green building practices.
Mendy was a former lecturer in Sustainable Design at Universitas Pelita Harapan, where she explored sustainable materials and collaborated with future designers. Her research interests include developing affordable, disaster-resistant, and sustainable housing, particularly for Indonesia’s earthquake-prone areas. At RDI, she contributes to Disaster and Climate Resilience (DCR), Regional Urban Planning (RUP), and Water and Waste Management (WWM), applying a practical and innovative approach to addressing climate change and urban development challenges.
