Prof. Xiangmin Chen is a renowned researcher, specializing in Urban Development, Street Commerce, Special Economic Zones, Infrastructure, Globalization, and the Belt and Road Initiative. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held positions at esteemed institutions such as Yale University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Oslo in Norway, and Duke Kunshan University in China. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Urban Studies Program at Trinity College in Connecticut.
Prof. Chen possesses an extensive publication bibliography, including journals such as the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society, and Cities: The International Journal of Urban Policy and Planning. His contributions to academia extend beyond journals, as he has authored books, book chapters, and numerous essays and articles for publications such as The World Financial Review.
In addition to his scholarly endeavors, Prof. Chen is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Sociological Association and the Regional Studies Association. Furthermore, he is highly regarded as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as the American Journal of Sociology and the International Journal of Comparative Sociology, among others, with too many to list comprehensively.
