Suryani Amin, MSi, is a seasoned professional in the field of climate change and sustainable development, boasting extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in assisting cities in addressing the challenges posed by climate change and disaster risks. She has actively contributed to numerous projects across the country in collaboration with various international organizations. Her professional journey spans from project management to fulfilling strategic advisory roles. Commencing her career with a strong commitment to social movements and activism, Suryani has dedicated the majority of her professional life to supporting systems vulnerable to the impacts of disasters and climate change. Her passion for writing is evident in her publication record.
Currently, Suryani holds the role of Regional Coordinator for SCIP, a project funded by GEF (Global Environment Facility) aimed at aiding cities in the adoption of integrated approaches to urban development, thereby shaping a resilient, inclusive, and low-carbon future. She also serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Resilience Development Initiative and has previously worked as a City Advisor with the C40 Climate Leadership Groups. Her diverse experience includes serving as a Community-based Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor for APIK, a USAID-supported project aimed at enhancing the capacity of Indonesians to manage climate and disaster risks. In this role, she led efforts to bolster government and community resilience in the face of climate change and weather-related natural disasters. Additionally, Suryani previously served as an individual consultant at the World Bank Office Jakarta, where she was responsible for a dedicated component linking disaster risk reduction and climate change.
