MoU Signing Between Lancaster University and RDI
On the 20th of June 2019, a significant moment occurred when representatives from Lancaster University (LU) and RDI formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering research endeavors. This collaboration was initiated following a series of interactions between the two institutions. In February 2019, Dr. Christine Mortimer and Dr. Maria Alejandra Lujan Escalante, researchers from Lancaster University, had visited RDI. To reciprocate this engagement, Dr. Saut Sagala, a Senior Fellow at RDI, undertook a follow-up visit to Lancaster from the 19th to the 21st of June.
The central focus of this collaborative effort is to promote research in the realms of traditional knowledge and disaster risk reduction. The research endeavors are set to span across diverse regions, including Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Southeast Asia (SEA).
During Dr. Sagala's visit to Lancaster, he shared his valuable insights and experiences garnered from his involvement in disaster recovery planning efforts in Central Sulawesi, an area profoundly affected by disasters. Moreover, Dr. Sagala had the opportunity to engage with various researchers and lecturers from Lancaster University, particularly those affiliated with the School of Management and the Lancaster Institute for Contemporary Arts. This exchange of knowledge and ideas during the visit laid the foundation for an exciting and promising collaborative research journey between Lancaster University and RDI.
