RDI REER Cluster Webinar#1: Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Development in Sumba
Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) from Indonesia, in collaboration with Leeds University (UK), CREEC (Uganda), and Dar Es Salam University (Tanzania), embarked on a research endeavor titled “Creating Resilient Sustainable Microgrids Through Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems” in 2019. This research aims to develop and validate the design of holistic microgrids with hybrid systems tailored for rural areas in developing nations, including Indonesia, with a specific focus on Sumba Island.
In pursuit of knowledge sharing and information dissemination stemming from these findings, this webinar serves as a platform to foster greater collaboration among key stakeholders in the energy and electricity sector. Building upon the initial research, the webinar aims to facilitate discussions on the implications of research results for local and national regulatory transformations, technology system operation and maintenance, and detailed energy and electricity-related planning. International participation and collaboration are expected to contribute to global efforts, particularly in addressing climate change and the transition toward clean energy to support the needs of a growing global population.
