Urgent need for disaster risk insurance and financing research in Indonesia prompted RDI to conduct assessments in Gorontalo and West Java Provinces, focusing on local government efforts, financing mechanisms, and gaps. Coordinated by UNDP, this initiative aims to bolster local government resilience. Dr. Saut Sagala presented the findings, emphasising the challenges in integrating disaster risk into regional budgets, such as prioritisation, continuity, risk awareness, and financial literacy. To overcome these issues, RDI stressed the importance of training, templates, and collaboration to enhance sub-national government capacity. Additionally, RDI participated in West Java Province’s Disaster Management Plan (RPB) Public Test and Finalization, underlining the significance of incorporating public finance and disaster risk management into development planning for resilience and sustainability.
