In May 2021, RDI staff participated in the “Words into Action” online workshop organised by GNDR, NRC, and PPD. The workshop focused on testing a new e-learning resource for disaster displacement and knowledge sharing about risk reduction concepts. It also covered resilience building, gender sensitivity, and social inclusion. Participants, part of the Making Displacement Safer project across Asia and Africa, engaged in two sessions. The first involved a presentation on human mobility in disasters and climate change, followed by an e-learning module. The second session addressed gender and displacement, followed by breakout group discussions. RDI shared insights from its work in Garut and learned valuable lessons for its Urban Living Labs approach, emphasising community involvement, a multi-stakeholder approach, and area-based strategies for project sustainability.
