Optimization of Refuse-derived Fuels (RDF) to Decarbonize Energy Sector and Achieve NDCs Targets in Indonesia
Our Goal
- Primary Goal
Optimize RDF use for decarbonization and support Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
- Specific Objectives
Enhance waste management, promote sustainable energy, and strengthen international collaboration.
Getting to know RDF
RDF Technology
Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) is a technology that converts waste into energy, recovering recyclable materials, reducing carbon emissions, and decreasing the reliance on fossil fuels (UN PAGE, 2023).
RDF, not to confuse with SRF, typically includes materials such as plastics, paper, and cardboard that are processed for energy recovery with lower calorific value compared to SRF.
What outcomes do we anticipate from RDF implementation?
Environmental Impact
Reduction in carbon emissions and improved waste management.
Social and Economic Benefits
Job creation, community involvement, and economic growth.
Policy Influence
Support for policy changes and new regulations.
