Background:
The INVEST DM 2.0 initiative, a collaborative effort between the US Government and the Government of Indonesia, builds upon previous programs to strengthen disaster management. It aims to extend its impact from the national to the sub-national level, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) through reforms and capacity building. This involves education, training, and strategic improvements to elevate disaster management capacity, reinforcing local institutions and personnel for more effective responses. The initiative coincides with the drafting of strategic plans for BNPB and the National Disaster Management Plan for 2025-2029, supported by sectoral roadmaps and regulatory measures. INVEST DM 2.0 deploys consultants to provide specialized knowledge, aligning with national planning frameworks to enhance disaster management vision and resilience at all levels.
Aims and Objectives:
The research aims to support BNPB in crafting the technocratic draft of the BNPB Strategic Plan for 2025-2029, a pivotal medium-term national development plan in disaster management. The consultation process is designed to facilitate a participatory approach and foster a collaborative learning process with the BNPB team, ensuring a comprehensive and informed strategy. The research will involve the development of methodologies and work plans, conducting extensive consultations, and analyzing pertinent planning documents, evaluation reports, and relevant regulations. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of a robust and forward-thinking BNPB Strategic Plan for 2025-2029, aligning with national disaster management objectives and ensuring a resilient and effective response to future challenges.
