Bandung Seismic Cities Roundtable and Exhibition
On April 30th, 2019, RDI and Coventry University co-hosted the Seismic Cities Roundtable Meeting at Orbital Galeri in Bandung, Indonesia. The primary objective of this event was to enhance awareness and preparedness among the local communities in Bandung, Indonesia.
A diverse group of participants attended this event, including representatives from BPBD West Java Province, the fire department, the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB), the Indonesia Bhadra Utama Foundation (IBU Foundation), and SOS Children.
The roundtable featured two distinguished speakers, namely Prof. Gavin Sullivan from Coventry University and Dr. Ekbal Hussein from the British Geological Survey. Prof. Gavin Sullivan introduced the Seismic Cities project and shared the research findings generated by the Seismic City research team. Dr. Ekbal Hussein, an expert in remote sensing, provided insights into the geological characteristics of the Lembang fault in Bandung.
Simultaneously, a two-week exhibition took place at Orbital Dago in Bandung, showcasing artworks centered around the earthquake risks associated with the Lembang Fault in the northern region of Bandung. This exhibition garnered significant attention from national media agencies such as the Jakarta Post and Kompas, further highlighting the importance of the event and its relevance in the context of earthquake preparedness and mitigation.
