DiBiCoo Project: Sustainable Biogas Project Financing Capacity Building in Indonesia
On July 14th and 15th, 2021, RDI conducted an online capacity-building program on "Sustainable Biogas Project Financing and Bankability" as part of the DiBiCoo Project. The program featured an impressive lineup of speakers from various organizations, including the Indonesian Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF), GGGI, TLFF, LPPI, PT. SMI, and IRID. In this second installment of the DiBiCoo Capacity Building series, RDI's objective was to provide comprehensive education on diverse financing schemes offered by both public and private sectors and the factors influencing biogas project financing.
This capacity-building initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local stakeholders within the biogas industry, covering fundamental aspects such as biogas project planning, risk assessment and mitigation, biogas technology and utilization, business models, and potential sources of funding for biogas projects. Each day of the event consisted of two training sessions, a sharing session, and lectures from prominent keynote speakers. The primary focus of this second series of capacity-building sessions revolved around instruments and financing schemes provided by public and private sectors, as well as the various factors influencing the financing of biogas projects.
The speakers for July 14th, 2021, included Agunan Samosir from the Collateral Fiscal Policy Agency of the Ministry of Finance, who discussed "Renewable Energy (Biogas) Project Financing Policy." Satria Wira Tenaya from GGGI Indonesia delved into "Estimated Financing and Supply Security," while Elis Mudjiwati from the Indonesian Banking Development Institute covered "Risk Management in Biogas Project Financing." Additionally, there was a sharing session on "Implementation of Biogas Project Financing by Private Financing Institutions," led by Pradana Murti from PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur.
The speakers for July 15th, 2021, included Bangkit Oetomo from TLFF Indonesia, who explained the "Blended Finance Scheme for Biogas Projects." Moekti H Soejachmoen and Paul Butarbuta from the Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID) discussed "Funding for Carbon Biogas Activities," and Istiana Maftuchah from the Financial Services Authority covered "Sustainable Financing for Renewable Energy Projects."
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the DiBiCoo activities in 2021 were successfully conducted. Even in a virtual format, these events underscore DiBiCoo's commitment to expanding the biogas market in Indonesia.
