Dr. Bridgid Chin is presently associated with Curtin University Malaysia, where her research expertise is centered on the conversion of both municipal solid waste and biomass waste using environmentally friendly technologies, with a particular focus on thermochemical conversion processes for biofuel production. In her earlier career, she actively participated in three international grants, namely IFS, JASTIP, and ASEAN-ASTIF, all of which were centered around gasification and pyrolysis processes.
In 2015, she earned recognition as a finalist for the IChemE Malaysia Awards, specifically in the category of Young Chemical Engineer in Research Award. Furthermore, she played a key role in successfully co-hosting the 8th International Forum on Industrial Bioprocessing (IBA-IFIBiop) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in 2019. Dr. Chin also serves as the lead student advisor for the IChemE Student Chapter and holds the position of Chair for the Student and Alumni Committee at her university.
In her role as the lead student club advisor for the IChemE Student Chapter at Curtin University Malaysia, Dr. Chin has been instrumental in organizing various events, including community outreach programs, knowledge transfer initiatives, and webinar series in previous years. Under her leadership, the student chapter received recognition as a ‘Highly Commended Student Chapter’ in 2018 and was shortlisted as a finalist in the student chapter category in 2019.
Since January 2022 Dr Bridgid Chin is an Associate Professor for Chemical and Energy Engineering Department of
Curtin University Malaysia, where she has been actively involved in teaching,
research work, supervising research students (honours, MSc, PhD) in aforementioned areas;
providing with many academic leadership and administrative supports for the department and
serving many committees in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and University.
