Elisabeth Adyiningtyas Satya Dewi, widely known as Elisabeth “Nophie” Dewi in various circles, both academic and non-academic, began her career as an adjunct lecturer at the International Relations Program of Unpar in 2010, shortly after completing her PhD program in Melbourne. She taught courses on Global Politics of the United States. Since January 1, 2011, “Nophie” has been a permanent faculty member in the International Relations Program, teaching various courses aligned with her interests, educational background, and experience. Currently, she serves as the Head of the Parahyangan Center for International Studies (PACIS).
“Nophie” completed her undergraduate studies in 1996 with the support of a Unpar Dharmasiswa scholarship. She then worked at a private bank while actively participating in various community organizations in Bandung. After a year of employment at the International Labor Organization (ILO) on a child labor elimination project, “Nophie” received a scholarship for her master’s studies in Regional Economic and Social Development. During this time, she worked as a Research Assistant at various research centers at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the USA. As part of her master’s program, “Nophie” wrote a thesis titled “Communities Values, Education and Work: Child Labor in Indonesia – The Case of the Household Footwear Sector in Cibaduyut and Cangkuang Kulon Bandung.”
Upon her return from the United States, “Nophie” spent a year working at the UNPAR Foundation, where she initiated the Dana Lestari Scholarship Program for UNPAR students. Simultaneously, she remained active in the Jaringan Mitra Perempuan Bandung community, which advocates for gender equality in various sectors in Bandung. Her organizational involvement and training experiences in gender equality paved the way for “Nophie” to receive an Australian Development Scholarship for her PhD studies at Victoria University, Australia. In 2010, she completed her doctoral studies with a thesis titled “Relationships between Women Migrant Workers and Their Children in Indonesia: Feminist Perspectives, Community Values, and Motherhood.”
“Nophie” is actively engaged in writing and presenting her ideas in various local, national, and international forums and publications. Her passion for writing and presenting led her to become the editor of the PACIS Journal of International Relations since 2012. While continuing her academic pursuits, “Nophie” dedicates her time, energy, and attention to her church, St. Melania Foundation, and the Bandung Diocese. She also continuously explores new approaches to education, from publishing student-authored books to taking students into the field and providing opportunities for them to interact directly with the Bandung community.
