The 2nd International Conference on Rural Development and Community Empowerment

On 2-5 November 2017, RDI participated in The 2^nd International Conference on Rural Development and Community Empowerment conducted by Center for Rural Areas Empowerment, Institut Technology of Bandung (ITB). One of RDI paper titled "Best Practice of Local Tourism Management: Case Study of Suter Cluster of Geo-park Batur, Bangli Regency, Bali Province of Indonesia" made by RDI Senior Fellow: Dr. Saut Sagala, ITB Lecturer: Prof. Arief Rosyidie, and RDI Researcher: M. Musyafa Syahbid and M. Adryan Sasongko, had been selected as one of the paper that presented on the event.

The conference aimed to be a place for a meeting between experts and leaders from the academic and business world in an open forum to brainstorm some of the recent pressing issues faced by scholars and academic, within theme of "Applied Science and Engineering for Rural Development". Practicians and researchers from Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand participated in both plenary session and parallel session. One of the speakers were Prof. Tsair Wang Chung from Department of Chemical Engineering, Chung Yuan Christian University, talking about the application of separation technology on the products from Jatropha curcus ecological industry chain and the industry-university cooperation on biomass and bio-resources industry in Indonesia; Dr. Bashar S. Mohammed on the development of rubbercrete interlocking bricks that promotes low cost concreting materials and construction process; and Prof. Mohamad Pauzi Zakaria on the impact of environmental pollution to rural, urban, and coastal communities in recent years.
