Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) Field Survey at Palembang City

On March 18th - 21st 2017, RDI team with WVI (World Vision Indonesia) team held field survey at Palembang city, as a part of research "The impact of Haze on Children's Health" (An evidence based study of the impact of haze from forest and peatlands fire on children's health in 3 cities of Sumatera and Kalimantan: Palembang, Palangkaraya and Pontianak). This field survey consists of Focus group discussion (FGDs) and interviews with representatives from officials at the provincial level, local NGOs, school committee, doctor and also local community. The researcher objective is to identify areas that require improvement in policies related to the prevention of forest fires and health intervention, especially in children, related to health problems caused by exposure to smoke from the forest fires and to identify gaps between existing policies at all levels of governments and the ideal situation.
