Optimizing Real Impact in Sustainability through Collective Action

On October 18th, 2022, RDI was invited to the Cut The Cost: Collaboration Summit 2022 at Thamrin Nine Ballroom, Jakarta. This summit was a collaboration between Multi Bintang Indonesia, WRI Indonesia, KADIN Net Zero Hub, Clean Energy Investment Acceleration, Ecoxytem, and Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia. and was aimed to interact and exchange meaningful ideas that can kindle new-age partnerships in sustainability. It is also a hub for networking and discussing practical ideas for making sustainable ideas a reality. This event also gathered various prominent stakeholders in sustainability movements, from the government, private sector, investors, and startups to NGOs, activists, communities, and associations. This event facilitated the participants to learn about and understand the current sustainability issues, as well as how to overcome them from different perspectives through several discussion sessions.

The Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, delivered the opening remarks and he highlighted the mainstreaming of biofuel, biomass, and refused derived fuel (RDF) usages for the concrete strategy of Indonesia's renewable energy strategy. There was also a talk show with a theme of the Integrated Water Security Open Program, which highlighted how the implementation of integrated water resource management needs to be optimized to improve economic growth and health. Therefore it needs a holistic approach among different stakeholders.  Another talk show highlighted the effort to retire the use of coal and start transitioning to the use of clean energy. It started with understanding what the primary and basic needs are, because sometimes what is needed is not always electricity, it can be in another form such as heat, or else. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience to get closer to stakeholders who focuses on sustainability, and RDI is open to upcoming collaborations through projects and researches.
