RDI was honored to be invited to The 5th Indonesia Circular Economic Forum, held by Greeneration Group on Wednesday, 5 October 2022 at Jakarta Convention Center. The ICEF 2022 brought out together stakeholders active in the broad field of the circular economy in Indonesia. This year's agenda is to further act in accelerating circular economy implementation in Indonesia.

The opening remark was given by Mr. Bijaksana Junerosano, Founder of Greeneration, and followed by a keynote speech from Mr. Ujang Solihin  (Kasubdit Tata Laksana Produsen Direktorat Pengurangan Sampah KLHK), The 1st plenary meeting titled "The Circular Economy for Indonesia's Low Carbon Development", which filled by several incredible panelists, namely Julia Bulow (Head of Environment and Water of the Embassy of Denmark), Verania Andria (Senior Advisor for Renewable Energy Strategic Programme UNDP Indonesia), and Dhedy Adi Nugroho (Head of Corporate Affairs at Coca Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia).

It discussed how important it is to focus on and support more on the holistic and inclusive circular economy, especially in Indonesia. This becomes one of the efficient approaches to reduce waste and also be an excellent potential area for developing new businesses. It is also found that production and consumption behavior is the key points that also become the biggest challenges to tackle. Especially in Indonesia, there are lots of districts and sub-district with their own regulation, which also automatically impact the economy of scale, the economic component, and its circular economy. Therefore, great commitment and collaboration are very much needed. When discussing green funding that nowadays is very much discussed, it is important to have a good quality of the project itself and how to ensure it sustains. As for now, bigger pressure is needed from fossils and how to start changing the behavior to create subsidies for renewable energy. Within this event, RDI is one step closer to staying consistent in taking roles to accelerate climate action through the circular economy, that will be implemented in our existing and upcoming works.
