Prosecuting Closer Approach and Training for Successing the Managing Risk in the Face of Climate Change (MRFCC) in West Java

A training session titled Managing Risk in the Face of Climate Change was organized by RDI along with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (WCDI). The training took place in Jakarta, Subang, and Indramayu on 06-08 March 2023. There are several series of activities under this training program.


For 6 - 7 March 2023, RDI conducted several agendas which include a visit to the  National Disaster Management Agency (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana) office along with a presentation from their representatives, a visit to the Old Town of Jakarta to observe climate change and disaster phenomenon along with the explanation from the Water Resources Agency and Regional Disaster Management Agency of DKI Jakarta Province, presentations and discussions conducted in collaboration with RDI and Policy Advocacy and Community Empowerment (PACE) Center, and visit to directly meet local stakeholders in Indramayu. 



The event continued on 8 March 2023 with a field visit tour and interviews. The participants were divided into four groups to conduct interviews with various stakeholders. To assist them with translation and facilitate the interviews, RDI and Policy Advocacy and Community Empowerment (PACE) Center research officers were present. The stakeholders included the Village Cooperative Unit, Farmers group, Fishermen group, Fish farmers group, Fish market and auction center, and Mangrove zone in Eretan Wetan Village, Eretan Kulon Village, and Soge Village, Indramayu Regency, West Java. The participants engaged in insightful discussions with the stakeholders and gained a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by these groups.
