Dear RDI Colleagues,

I am pleased to send you the fourth RDI Newsletter of 2017 (October - December)
In this newsletter we feature several updates and activities:

1. ASEAN Forum on Urban Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risk
Ramanditya Wimbardana, RDI research fellow, was invited to attend ASEAN Forum on Urban Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risk in Laog City, Philippines.

2. MoU Signing With LP3I Polytechnic Bandung
RDI was invited by LP3I Polytechnic Bandung to signed MoU for institutional partnership to provide further employment and internship opportunities to LP3I's graduates.

3. Three Days Training on Planetary health in Cebu, Philippines
Elisabeth Rianawati attended the three days training on planetary health in Cebu, Philippines. The event was held by Rockefeller sponsorship through UNU-IIHG and University of Philippines Cebu.

4. Institutional Visit to Asean Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA-Centre)
RDI visited Asean Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA-Centre) as part of institutional visits to RDI affiliated partners. The proposed webinar series will be the first collaboration project trial between RDI and AHA Centre, that will discuss various trending issues and topics in Southeast Asia.

5. Staff Enhancement Program on Waste Management
One of RDI fellows, Jatmiko Wahyudi, had an opportunity to attend the BAPPENAS
Staff Enhancement Program 2017 which held at Temple University Japan. The program addressed Japanese and International best practice of community-based waste management..

6. The Importance Of Local Perspective Lecture by Thomas Lovett
Urban and Regional Planning Department of UNIKOM, Bandung, invited RDI and Thomas Guy Lovett�RDI Intern from Leiden University� to talk about his own research and his perspectives on both anthropology and the importance of taking into consideration of local perspectives and understandings before the implementations of schemes or strategies.

7. Voice of Members
Voice of members from Umar Al Faruq (former RDI Staff and Researcher), Marta Mori (former RDI Intern from Italy), and Tom Lovett (former RDI Intern from United Kingdom).
