Nusa Tenggara Barat Province
Background:
NTB Province in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia is part of a special economic region developed into a tourism destination, but its economic development is not in line with gender development and empowerment. Despite efforts to decrease the gender gap, NTB still has difficulty accessing regional development results. The region has high maternal and infant mortality rates due to low interest in women’s health. The local culture of the Sasak people is patriarchy cultural practices, contributing to the gender gaps. Oxfam GB and Global Affairs Canada established the Power Up-Participation Project to empower women, men, boys, girls, and marginalized groups to increase their engagement in democratic decision-making processes using technology. The project will use technology platforms based on mobile communication and websites to strengthen active citizen involvement, with a special focus on women and marginalized women. The initiative aims to improve their ability to access and understand information, demand improved government accountability, and access improved services. The goal is to exercise their rights to transparent and equitable development processes that reflect their needs, especially their health needs.
Aims and Objectives:
To establish a baseline for measuring progress throughout the life of the Power Up project in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
– To create a baseline for measuring the outcomes of the project.
– Provide recommendations towards program implementation backed by evidence-based research.
– To collect evidence towards testing the assumptions under the project theory of change.
