Background:
Emission inventories play a crucial role in developing strategies aimed for controlling air pollution by offering foundational data on emission sources and their contribution. By gaining insights into these sources, efforts to manage air quality can be concentrated on the most significant sectors. Furthermore, emission inventories also facilitate monitoring of air pollution, enabling the identification of trends in air quality and pollution levels, air pollution emitting activities, as well as the evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention measures. With comprehensive data on emissions across sectors, governments can pinpoint areas for potential enhancements in treatment/control efficiency and undertake actions to reduce emissions through the implementation of policy initiatives.
Aims and Objectives:
- Supporting MoEF in emission inventarisation for cities across Indonesia, especially Jabodetabek and several regions in Banten and West Java Provinces.
- Revising emission inventarization guidelines, the final version will be developed into a national guideline for cities’ emission inventarisation.
- The result of the emission inventory in the selected regions will provide the base to analyze pollutant emission trends throughout 2019 to 2024, which then will be developed into policy recommendations for air pollution control.
- Mapping Jabodetabek’s air pollution level in the hope of learning more about transboundary pollution in Jabodetabek
Scope:
RDI will support MoEF and the NGO consortium (Vital Strategies, KPBB, Clean Air Asia, and RDI) in assisting Regional Environment Agencies doing emission inventarisation and developing the report.
