Background
One of the efforts towards sustainable chemistry comprises the implementation of green chemistry, leading to the emerging green solvent notion as an alternative to adverse solvents. Studies of various solvents deemed green introduces the novel concept of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs). Despite being considered a better alternative to regular solvents, findings revealed several DESs defects with regards to it being green solvents; hence there is a need for regulation to assist the emerging DESs application.
RDI has become a part of book entitled ‘Deep Eutectic Solvents: Fundamentals and Emerging Applications’ published by Elsevier, contributing one chapter of Regulatory Aspects of Deep Eutectic SOlvents Technology and Applications. The book itself, aims at providing fundamental information with a state-of-art scenario on various topics being covered by it with the main content of each chapter inclined on recent scientific information on DES. Each chapter will also present the industrial scenario on the topic, wherever possible/applicable. By involving existing studies regarding DESs, this chapter proposed bundling of regulatory aspects required to assist the emerging DESs application. Issues that arise from current DESs application were investigated and combined with national and global solvent regulations approach to frame the recommendations.
