Aims and Objectives

This research aims to (i) identify best-practices, lessons learned, and provide transfer of knowledge on Nature-based Solutions approach; (ii) map current condition, implementation, and potential of Nature-based Solutions for climate change and hydrometeorological disaster mitigation in selected cities in Indonesia; (iii) support cooperation and enhance research capacity in the region, through the development and provision of tools and data for Nature-based Solutions assessments and planning using case studies in selected cities in Indonesia; and (iv) develop local knowledge-based strategies and recommendations from all available sources7.
This collaborative research brings together SATU member universities to focus on the existing conditions and the potential of Nature-based Solutions in the selected cities in Indonesia based on the general/national overview and the selected case studies. The research development would be encouraged to emphasise the spatial planning and regional development view to broaden the research perspective. The data collection will be through desk-study, key informant interviews and focus group discussions. Further, knowledge exchange will then be facilitated, through meetings and a workshop, in order to come up with recommendations for further Nature-based Solutions implementation. The findings of this research will be consolidated through the development of a research and innovation report for Nature-based Solutions practitioners and other stakeholders in the region.
