Amidst Indonesia's push for decarbonization in its energy transition journey, RDFact remains committed to its multiyear project, persisting in delivering capacity-building training sessions for local governmental agencies. Recently, on 28th - 29th February 2024, we conducted the fourth installment of the RDFact Capacity Building series, focusing on the Technoeconomic Assessment of RDF Implementation.
This training session aimed to empower participants with essential skills in conducting techno-economic analyses for RDF plants, utilizing Microsoft Excel-based tools developed by BRIN and the RDI Team. With approximately 10 local governmental agencies in attendance, alongside representatives from national-level institutions, ministries, the private sector, think tanks, and communities, the event fostered inclusive engagement in advancing RDF implementation across Indonesia.
Key highlights from the training included the potential for replicating Excel-based tools for other local governments, enhanced capacities among participants in techno-economic assessment, strengthened networking opportunities, and the prospect of future collaborations.
The objectives of this capacity-building initiative were:
- Deepening Understanding: To provide participants with comprehensive insights into the techno-economic aspects of RDF, encompassing production processes, economic viability, and potential impacts on the energy sector.
- Technical Skill Enhancement: To bolster technical proficiency among participants in conducting detailed techno-economic assessments of RDF operations, including evaluating production processes, cost structures, and revenue streams.
- Knowledge Dissemination and Collaboration: To disseminate research findings and assessments to key stakeholders while fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among academia, industry professionals, and government stakeholders.
- Promoting Replicability: To contribute to the refinement of RDFact's replicable model, ensuring the robustness and adaptability of the techno-economic assessment component for implementation in regions facing similar waste management and energy challenges.
Our commitment to advancing decarbonization efforts in Indonesia continues beyond this training session, with upcoming activities such as economic-based training, Business Design Training, and Socio-economic Impact Assessment. We invite everyone to stay connected with us for updates on future training sessions and events aimed at strengthening Indonesia's decarbonization journey.
