Training and Workshop LIPI

Bandung, 26-27 Novermber 2015
Host: Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) & Resilience Development Initiative
Venue: Seminar Room, LIPI, Bandung

Disaster risk reduction is still an emerging topic for research in Indonesia. It has significant influences to many aspects and disciplines. It is important to recognize how DRR has been developed in many disciplines in order to find common grounds and perhaps solutions. Beside making DRR as an urgent goal, research and practice have gone towards building resilience. Resilience is seen as an ultimate goal of DRR. That is to make all layers of the society to be strong in dealing with potential hazards and also inner weakening process (vulnerability). To this end, the workshop aims to bring scholars from different background discussing disaster risk reduction and resilience issues on Indonesia. This two day workshop is aimed to present recent study progress and later will propose relevant further study areas for advancement on DRR studies. It also will bring a perspective that integrate multi-discipline that contributes to DRR.

The workshop is organized as follows:
  • Morning Session: Presentation on recent progress from speakers and practitioners
  • Afternoon Session: Further discussion on resilience concept application to Indonesian's context (Key Questions should be provided before)

  • Organizers:
